Meet Toyah...

Toyah Israelstam
Registered Psychotherapist
For over a decade I have been supporting individuals to navigate painful and challenging life circumstances. I am a highly experienced trauma-informed therapist and am passionate about treating issues and symptoms related to childhood trauma and abuse; abusive relationships; cultural or religious trauma and other forms of interpersonal trauma. I also support individuals who are experiencing depression; anxiety; chronic pain; grief and relationship issues.

Difficult life experiences can cause us to struggle with symptoms and issues such as unhealthy thought patterns; a dysregulated nervous system; critical inner voices; unhelpful coping mechanisms; low self-esteem/self-worth, and painful negative emotions. I work with a variety of therapeutic modalities including Emotion-focused Therapy (EFT); Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); attachment-based therapy; somatic (body-based) therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness and Compassion therapy to help you work with these symptoms.

Within a therapeutic relationship with me, you should expect to experience empathy, warmth, compassion, and a safe space to open up. I value anti-oppressive and culturally sensitive therapy. I provide individualized treatment plans catered to fit your unique needs and issues.
